NOTE – Comes from Safe Sanitized Storage Area, packed with glove/mask wearing virus-free volunteers. The tall Ivory plaster one and the Gold 8.5 inch white metal one are there for comparison purposes ONLY. Boy Scouts of America. Extremely Rare Original Bronze R. We have been told that Mr. McKenkie then with the Philadelphia Council, a sculpturer and doctor, created this statue and image as the “ideal Scout” using several Scout models and images. We understand to raise funds for the molds he got donors. Then to thank them, he made 10 bronze statues for the donors and put their initials in the base, and made an additional 10 bronze statues without initials, making a total that he only ever made 20 Bronze Statues ever. The plaster version was made for sale through scouting until 1937. Then a smaller 8 1/2 inch white metal version was made for awards which is still produced today. The 17″ Ivory plaster one and the 8.5″ Gold pot metal one are there for comparison ONLY. Note- it is solid bronze, with a green felt bottom and extremely heavy, almost 20 pounds. This is a MUSEUM QUALITY DISPLAY Scout Statue. Mgd =Merged, JSP =Jamboree Shoulder Patch, DJ =the 75th Anniversary Diamond Jubilee for BSA in 1985, NJ =National Jamboree, WJ =World Jamboree, PL or PL Back =Plain Back, embroidered, no plastic, PB =Plastic Back, Annv. =Anniversary Issue, CP =Council Patch, not CSP shaped, usually round and worn on pocket-not shoulder, T =Twill background version / not fully embroidered, S =Solid background / fully embroidered, fdl =Fluer-de-lis or Scout Emblem was added. NOTE – Green felt on bottom. (We are not experts on these). CONDITION: VG – EX. NOTE – photo should be final determination on condition. What one person considers GOOD another considers VERY GOOD. Some may be said to be VG (Very Good) not because they were ever used, but because they may have been in a collection or drawer and not be perfectly flat. Usually we put Good if slightly blemished, or taped into a book, or once used, etc. Or Very Good (pretty nice – perhaps never used, or slightly used, but still look nice) or EX, EXCELLENT (Very Nice shape, appears never used) or MINT – (Mint is Mint – almost perfect or better). We are not expert of military, scouting or Red Cross items so what you may be looking for is not what we see. Please keep that in mind. We will try our hardest to help. ALL PROCEEDS go to Scout & Youth Educational Displays and Supplies.
